Project Yellow Jersey

We had the pleasure to be involved in catering the lunch for Project Yellow Jersey. This was a charity function which revolved around the donation of a signed Lance Armstrong Jersey to the Cancer Society. It was organized by Scott Chisholm and was held at the North Central Fire Station.

In the creation of this menu we wanted to keep with a certain theme. We weren't sure, whether it be yellow & blue, Texas, France, the number 7, bicycles…something. In my research, I discovered Lances' mom Linda was an inspiring cook and many of her recipes were not only on the internet but in her book. So I bought the book, did some more research, and it became the Linda Armstrong Buffet! Food items that she would cook for Lance growing up and what she cooked at their family functions.

We had the recipes formatted into a book with pictures and stories about Lance in it and handed them out to everyone who attended the lunch as a memento from the occasion. Have a look at the menu below.

  • Linda's Famous Cornbread
  • Texas Guacamole
  • Mellow Jean's Yellow Bell Pepper Soup
  • The Best Banana Bread in the World
  • Shrimp & Crab Gumbo with Steamed Rice

  • "The only way I know how to thank my wonderful family for their overwhelming love and support is to cook for them, so I better get to it."
